Spring Special

I wanted to share a treasure I found today while scouting out new ideas at area consignment shops.  This wonderful store, located at 213 E. Division in Sparta is exploding with goodies.  I found these sweet dresses for twins, Allie and Abbie as well as the flowers we used.  Their prices are unbeatable!

Allie, age 5 is a natural in front of the camera!
Abbie, also age 5, is a bit of a joker.  Once she had her fill of silly faces she settled into this sweet pose.

Looking forward to hearing from you all soon!

Wacky Hair

I had to share this image of my 12 year old Benjamin.  It is wacky hair day at his school and of course Meijer did not have the very cool gel or cooled hairspray to make life easy....So...mom brings home Easter egg dye and makes the poor kid soak his head in a bowl of dye!  Too funny.  We did manage to find some blue tip gel to give our creation a finishing touch.  In the end he seemed happy enough.  The wonderful world of last minute fixes.  Gotta love it!

Layered Treats

I went to a social function this past weekend and decided to share two recipes I took that made a big hit.  They are old time favorites so you may already know about them or just forgot about them.  I took home empty dishes at the end of the night which is a good thing.  Less for me to pig out on later!
This is the 7 Layer Mexican Dip:  Layers from the bottom up are:
Refried Beans, Guacamole, Sour cream mixed with taco seasoning mix, Onions, Shredded cheddar cheese, Tomatos, and Black olives.  Vola!  Instant yumminess - is that a word?!
The other old time favorite is the Magic Bars - Here is the recipe:
Melt a stick of butter in the bottom of a cookie sheet (approx 9 x 13) at 350 degrees.  Then layer 2 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs, 1 2/3 cups coconut, 1/2 pkg of semi sweet choc morsels, 1/2 pkg of butterscotch morsels and 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts.  Top the entire masterpiece with a 14 oz can of Sweetened condensed milk.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.  Let cool before cutting into bars.
Watch them disappear!!!
